Old Skool Fridays: "Biscocho Massacre" -Urban Flow

On our last issue of old skool fridays we featured H-Bom and after that we received requests for this group to be put on the spotlight here at Old Skool Fridays.. The group that im talking about is no other than "Urban Flow" who is considered as the original rap balladeers in P.I...which consists of Sunny Blaze, Wilzone, Dj Arbie & Dj Flux.. They released their debut album "Test da Flow" in 1995 under OctoArts Records.. and the album reach the Gold Record status.. With their radio friendly hits such as Ms. Pakipot, Balaleng, and Lumayo Ka to name a few of their songs that was played on the local airwaves.. single after single... almost half of the 10 track album was aired and not to mention the TV guestings specially on noontime shows where they became "Suki" to the extent that it will make you wonder and say Urban Flow again ?.. and turn off the boob tube.. Anyways on this album, most of the tracks are for the ladies or can be called "Harana Rap" on our local lingo.. but there are also funny storytelling tracks like Handkerchief Girl, Kapcop and our featured track Biscocho Massacre which is most likely a spoof of "Visconde Massacre".. For me this track stands out from the other tracks in the album because of it's sound, content and dual dj scratching of Dj Flux & Arbie .. Listen to this cut and it will make you go to the nearest Bread Shop... Enjoy !!

This is another lost gem, this time from Dj Arbie Won. He was one of the first lokal dj's to released mixedtapes here in the p.i, as early as '95..I even have a newave megamix on cassette. But this one is fairly recent, this was given as a giveaway at one of his gigs in 2004. This one is called "Born in Shaolin vol.1"..Kinda like a megamix of our favorite wu-tang joints. The Cabinet Archives: Lost Indie Tracks 2

For this issue of Lost Indie Tracks.. we featured tracks from groups that are no longer making music together for a long period of time...

First we got "1' Mo Gain" by Treynucka-9 (Gloc-9, Gobas, Mista Blaze & Slick n Sly Kane).. This track is from the FUBU Collection CD which is produced by Francis M. Limited copies were released and you can only get a copy if you purchase 2,500++ worth of FUBU products..
It's been almost five years since we last heard a track from Treynucka-9.. will they gonna do an album or new track ? I think they should..

Next we got "Krylon Mic Combat" by Down Earf (Ace-1, Caliph8 & Dj Arbie).. This track is included on the rare "Knowin is Half The Battle" e.p. that was released independently in 1998 under Third Eye Infantry...

Lastly we give you "Tru Playaz" a track from Bomb Ass Playaz (Bomb Ass Prod. Artists) which is composed of "Rapskallion Official" (Krazy K.Y.L.E., Proof Positive & Demarco ROC), C-Poetic of Holla Fame, Trife-1 who is now known as JOLO, M4Real of Cyphasis and Playa-P of the now defunct Grounded as guest artist on this track... You can find this track on the Bomb Ass Compilation entitled "Fo Tha Luv Of It" way back in 1999..

This is the Beatraveler's first installment way back 2003 on his Tripping Out series . This volume has classic soul,jazz and rare grooves but my most favorite is when he plays all the soundtracks from classic Ch.13 Tv Shows from back in the days like, TODAS, Pinoy Thriller and Iskul Bukul. Brings back good memories. Good mix to just chill out to and smoke some..

Back in the Day when everyone just keeps on making their own albums or compilation... A certain DJ known as Arbie Won came and changed the game...He broke the bandwagon or outdone the other DJ's or artists did before him...And this was through his mixtapes..Yes you read it right Mixtapes and not MixCD..Yeah we still use the word Mixtape even if it's already in CD format... But what im trying to say is that this guy is already making Mixtapes on Cassettes independently when no one else does... He Released different Mixtapes from Party to Reggae Mixes..Until in 1999 he released the Now Classic and Rare "United Freestyles v.1 which features 40+ MC's doing their own Verses... Included in the album are then unknown artist like K-Nut, Rapskallion, Trife-1 (now known as JOLO),2tay, Artstrong & Pamilia D. to name a few..Old timers Syke, Dash of Legit Misfitz, Urban Flow, Madd Poets, BB Clan & ill-j of SVC also participated on the Mixtape that was released independently through Gigs, word of mouth orders and on some skateboard & Thrift Shops... Then in 2003 the much anticipated and the first ever DJ Album entitled "United Freestyles v. 2" which contains all Original Tracks from the Dopest Rappers here in P.I. was released commercially and bagged 3 trophies on the 1st Philippines Hip-Hop Awards... After that a lot of People keep on asking where is the "vol.1" ? and there are also stupid m*thaf#ck@rs said that there were no vol.1 was released before...So to put all the rumors and arguing to rest... We at SoulSonic asked the man himself for a CD format (coz we only had it on cassette) of the Mixtape...But he gave more than what we asked for..He allowed us to give it as a Free Download here at SoulSonic...So to all the heads...here is your chance to have a copy of the Classic Mixtape...Take it as an early Christmas Present from us... DJ Arbie Won recently hooked up with Nyko Maka and Nimbus 9 for a brand new single. The track entitled " Loss of Gravity" might be the kick-off single for DJ Arbie Won's United Freestyles 3 album. The album will also feature artists such as God's will, PD, BB Clan, SVC, and many more. They also just shot a video for it to be debut in youtube real soon.
